A specialist African carbon consultancy.
MBL is a specialist carbon consultancy, founded in Uganda in 2025 and working across East Africa in clean cooking and biochar. It advises governments, companies and investors on Article 6, and co-develops projects from first concept to issued credits. By keeping development close to the households and farms that create the reductions, and channelling carbon revenue back to those communities, MBL turns climate finance into real and lasting impact, with the value of every credit kept where the work is done.
MBL exists to build the next generation of carbon projects in Africa, with integrity at their core. Its mission is to bring development closer to the ground, to the households and farms where the credits are actually produced, and to hold every project to the highest standards through trusted local partners and close oversight. By keeping the work, the capacity and the returns in the countries where projects are implemented, MBL puts African interests at the centre of the carbon market, and makes sure the value of every credit reaches the people and communities who create it.
MBL was created by Allan Mubiru and Immo Böhning, leveraging over two decades of industry expertise in engineering, finance, and carbon project development. Their mission is to operate directly on the ground in East Africa, staying close to the projects and local partners.
Every MBL project is built so the value reaches the people who create it. Carbon revenue subsidises cookers for households and pays farmers for biochar, turning climate finance into real and lasting benefit for African communities, not just credits on a registry.
Integrity is the foundation of every credit MBL produces. Projects are designed to meet the ICVCM Core Carbon Principles and Article 6 standards, measured through digital MRV built on real data, and held to account through trusted partners and close oversight on the ground.
